New Nintendo 3DS announced

The New Nintendo 3DS has just been announced (yes, it’s literally named the New Nintendo 3DS). It follows the same design language as the previous version, but you will find the obvious changes in both aesthetics and hardware.

The buttons have been colored much like the Super Nintendo’s controllers, and there are now 2 shoulder buttons on each side, as well as a second analog nub. In addition, a faster processor and more RAM have been added, improving the device’s performance.

There will be two sizes available, which are very similar to the current 3DS and 3DS XL. An NFC chip has been integrated. The portable console is coming to Japan on October 11, other markets should follow soon.

Opinion: This is truly a completely new console, with a complete new set of hardware. In fact, it’s so different that games designed for the New Nintendo 3DS won’t be compatible with previous 3DS consoles.
