The Ubuntu Phones team has revealed that the RTM image of Ubuntu Touch will be the most stable one ever. The major improvements in this build are MTP server fixes, Facebook chat notifications, new Ubuntu UI toolkit and more. This month Meizu MX4's Android version will start shipping. In February, it was announced that BQ phone vendor will also come up with an Ubuntu phone by the end of this year.
Though it's not yet clear where the Ubuntu version of Meizu will be released, but indications are there that Italy is in the most favourable position. It's also uncertain whether the new version will be a dual-boot phone or will be available in separate Android and Ubuntu versions. Both the Meizu and BQ phones will run Ubuntu 14.10, which has released its beta version last month only. The final beta is due to be released on 25 September along with the Pro version of the Ubuntu Meizu phone. The final release is due on 23 October.
The phone's key features include 13.61-cm display with a new Nega liquid crystal technology and LED backlight module, latest TD-LTE and FDD-LTE 4G networks, 802.11ac WiFi, a 20.7-megapixel camera with 4K video capture support at 30fps and a 3100mAh battery. Canonical is expecting something huge from its flagship device as Ubuntu Touch is billed as a desktop-like convergence Linux distribution.
