Acer knows how to make a good computer and the brand new Acer Aspire Switch 12 is pure testament of that. This has to be one of the most exciting laptops we saw at the show floor. It will detach, flip around and bend over backwards for you… literally!
At first sight it looks like one of the craziest laptops you have ever seen. There is a huge gap between the keyboard and the screen, making it look like a deformity coming from a 50’s horror movie. There is a purpose to this design, though!
The keyboard detaches and continues working as a bluetooth input accessory. Meanwhile, that extra space is left attached to the screen, offering kickstand functionality. The whole contraption can take on multiple form factors. It accommodates any situation at hand.
There is also not much to complain about in the build quality department. The device is well made and nothing feels loose. The keyboard is surprisingly good, with great feedback and construction. You even get the classic track point we all used to love.
This version carries a larger 12.5-inch display and an Intel Core M 14nm processor. Sadly, that is about all we can tell you at this point. While Acer announced the Aspire Switch 12 at IFA, they haven’t quite given us all the details.
