Quad cores were yesterday, "Mediatek launches 8-core MT6592 SoC with LTE ...moves on to MT6595"

According to this, Mediatek - a fabless developer of ARM cores - works on an octo-core (8 core) ARM SOC.
That one is supposed to launch in Q1/2013 in 28nm top notch process [did not exactly happen - but it looks like Q3 is a good guess for fist products using this SoCs]

I say crazy...or isn't it?

Take it with a grain of salt as this is coming from Mediatek themselves most likely.
