MSI GS30 Shadow Gaming Notebook and Dock: Hands on Video

The MSI GS30 Gaming Shadow notebook is a 13.3 inch device that works with a very substantial dock that supplements the notebook’s Intel Iris graphics with a much more powerful PCIe discrete graphics card. Nicole Scott got hands on with the MSI GS30 at IDF in San Fransisco.

MSI’s gaming notebooks have been improving and gaining in stature for several years now, extending the same MSI Dragon branding to mobile segment, that we also see on their enthusiast motherboards, graphics cards, gaming keyboards and mice. The MSI GS30 is fitted with a fantastic looking QHD 2560 x 1440 display and a very powerful Intel Core i7 that also features the best integrated GPU that Intel can muster with Intel Iris Pro graphics.

Apple iPhone 6 India release date revealed

Apple’s iPhone 6 is gearing up for pre-orders in most regions on September 12, and it will arrive in many parts of the world on the 19th. What about India? Well, today we’ve learned the iPhone 6 India release date, and it’s not as soon as we’d hoped.
Apple will bring the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus to India on October 17. That’s a full month later than the smartphone will arrive in most locales, and we still don’t have any clue on the price for either model. It’s great to finally know the Apple iPhone 6 India release date, but that lengthy wait could be a bad thing for the company. You have to consider there will be at least a dozen new smartphones launched or announced in the region between now and then, and the iPhone 6 will not be cheap.
The original iPhone 6 India launch date was said to be September 26, but apparently that was a glitch of sorts that Apple has since corrected. The good news is it will arrive before Diwali which is a heavy shopping day in the region. That said, don’t expect to see either model of the iPhone 6 on discount at Flipkart anytime soon.
The iPhone 6 isn’t going to be a device for everyone, and some will even balk at the new sizes as well. You can still expect the handset to bring in a boatload of cash for Apple this year, and we have no doubt that a lot of consumers in India will be ready to pick on up on October 17.

Meizu MX4 Pro specs and dimensions leak

The Meizu MX4 hasn’t been out for long, and we’re already getting word on its follow-up, the Meizu MX4 Pro. We didn’t know much about the device until a few days ago when a set of Meizu MX4 Pro specs leaked, and today we learned a bit more about its overall dimensions.
According to a photo leak posted on Weibo, the Meizu MX4 Pro specs include an octa-core Exynos 5430 “variant” and a 5.36-inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1536. Other Meizu MX4 Pro specs include a 20.7MP rear-snapper, 13MP front-facing camera and a staggering 4GB of RAM. That said, there’s a bit of a discrepancy with the Exynos chip that exists and the one listed, so unless there’s a variant or a typo, you’ve got to take these MX4 Pro specs with a grain of salt.
The second set of Meizu MX4 Pro specs hit the web today, and they seem to be more in line with what we should see in the Pro version. The new specs show a 5.5-inch QHD display, an octa-core Kirin 920 and 3GB of RAM. The cameras are 16MP/2MP this time around, and the storage options come in at 32, 64 and 128GB. The dimensions are listed at 146mm x 78.5mm x 8.2mm thin with a weight of 140g.
It’s safe to say the first set of Meizu MX4 Pro specs are pretty shady after taking a look at the newly leaked specs. Stranger things have happened, but our money is on the second leak as it’s a nice (realistic) upgrade across the board compared to the regular version of the MX4. Expect the Meizu MX4 Pro or Mini to arrive sometime in October.

Nexus 9 confirmed through NVIDIA and expected to arrive in Q3

We saw a lot of handsets at IFA last week, and a few slick tablets as well. While we knew the Nexus 9 wouldn’t show up at the event, it’s still out there, lurking and waiting to take your money. It’s been a little quiet on the Nexus front lately, but that has changed as the Nexus 9 has just been revealed by NVIDIA.
NVIDIA has been having a bit of a dust-up with Samsung and Qualcomm over patents, and while you wouldn’t think legal documents would be interesting, some juicy information has turned up. NVIDIA’s Tegra K1 chip is a powerhouse, and it’s rumored to power the incoming Nexus slate. We’ve seen the new chippop up numerous times, and NVIDIA confirmed it for us by calling the Nexus out by name. Here are the interesting parts…
Exhibit 59. The Tegra K1 also powers Google’s new Project Tango Development Kit, a tablet computer that will enable users to track and map 3D environments by making over a quarter million 3D measurements every second, giving mobile devices a human-scale understanding of space and motion. Id. The HTC Nexus 9, expected in the third quarter of 2014, is also expected to use the Tegra K1.
So there you have it, straight from the horse’s mouth. We fully expected to see the Nexus 9 arrive by November alongside or before the new Nexus handset. Q3 technically ends in September, so if everything is still on track we’ll see the Nexus 9 before the end of the month. If that’s the case, we should start seeing leaks any day now.
We’re not going to rehash the rumored Nexus 9 specs, but we’ll just say it’s going to be a beastly device you’ll want to own. It’s time to start getting excited if you’re a fan of the Nexus line, and you can rest assured we’ll be on hand to bring you all the news on Google’s 2014 Nexus lineup.
